Synopsis: LEFT ON PEARL focuses on a highly significant but little-known episode in the history of the women's liberation movement. As the surprise ending to Boston's 1971 International Women’s Day march, hundreds of women seized a Harvard building, declaring it a Women’s Center, and demanding that Harvard provide affordable housing for the largely African American community being displaced by the university's expansion. This action led to the founding of the Cambridge Women's Center, contributed to the struggle for affordable housing, and incubated other progressive institutions, including Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, Transition House, Elizabeth Stone House & the Women's Community Cancer Project.
